“Every cell in your body is truly part of your one and only home. You don’t have to like your home, but it’s important to respect it and treat it with dignity.”
— Intuitive Eating for Every Day: 365 Daily Practices & Inspirations to Rediscover the Pleasures of Eating by Evelyn Tribole
Why can’t I do this? It seems so simple and yet I’ve been struggling with it for quite some time. Is it my body dysmorphia? Does everyone with disordered eating have BDD? I don’t treat myself with respect and dignity, though, so maybe this is an underlying issue that has more to do with the childhood abuse I experienced.
Not being able to respect one's own body is DIET MENTALITY. The die industry $pend$ to $upport media presentations that overwhelming influence us to believe that we can NOT trust our own bodies. The only way that you ro any of us can combat this brainwashing is to -
" . . . get angry at the lies from diet culture have led you to feel . . ." - Principle 1: Reject Diet Culture
Using the fuel of that anger to rip back the veil of deceit that has been laid over you and begin seeing how continuing to carry that MISbelief harms you! This is just a beginning, please do not expect an instant connection and love of your body. Instead as much as possible, view your body as an abused person which desires and needs your loving care. As you apply love to your DEAR body, it will slowly open up to you allowing the connection that you both need and desire.
BEST WISHES!!
