I came into this passion through a lifetime and long journey of my own complex and often disordered relationship with food and my body - ranging from fairly commonplace diet practices to life-risking behavior. For most of my life, I had a mission to keep this struggle completely separate from school, work, friends, and family. Upon finding recovery, I realized how much this isolation made the battle so much harder to overcome. My mission is to support people who are navigating their own questions or challenges around finding peace with food and their bodies, whether this means direct one-on-one guidance or fostering a community of people who would like a space to share their experiences. It is also deeply personal to create especially safe spaces for the LGBTQ+ people who struggle with this, as their experience is often overlooked or misunderstood by practitioners in this space. In terms of qualifications that marry with my lived experience, I hold a degree in physiological science from UCLA, where I did two years of lab research in nutritional physiology. After pivoting my interests and career, I conducted another year of research in social psychology of stigma/bias, and received my MBA in organizational psychology. This has led me to approaching this work with scientific inquiry and challenging commonly held (and inaccurate) beliefs about diet and weight in our society. I am also an ICF-Certified Life and Leadership Coach, and a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor. I practice through the lens of Health at Every Size® (HAES) and am a member of ASDAH (Association for Size Diversity and Health).
