Laura Brunero

Laura Brunero is a Registered Dietitian located in Rhode Island. Laura specializes in helping individuals who would like to enrich their relationship with food. Often, Laura’s clients find themselves conflicted about how to support themselves with eating. This may be because of a history of disordered thoughts and beliefs about food and their body, a new medical condition that involves how they eat, or a combination of these things. She uses her knowledge of medical nutrition therapy, and current research on weight, diet, body image, and health to inform her practice. Laura approaches counseling from a value-based perspective and with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Using a weight-neutral framework, Laura teaches her clients the concepts of intuitive eating® and how to love, support, and value their bodies. Many of the people who come to see her have been deeply influenced by diet culture as well as negative family patterns and societal messages around food and body size. For all issues, Laura helps her clients identify their intentions, make choices that help fulfill those intentions, and explore and address any barriers. Laura uses curiosity, authenticity, and humor in her work with clients. Her practice believes in the tenets of Health At Every Size® and actively combat the thin ideal perpetuated by social media and larger society. Her goal is to provide clients with the self-care tools they need to live happy, meaningful lives.
