Personal Background: Like many of you reading this, I struggled with poor body image growing up. I compared myself to my peers and older sister, which left me feeling unattractive, possibly unlovable, and like I did not fit in. Fortunately, struggling and suffering have their graces, which I was able to see later in life and imagine will continue to see unfold. My Catholic faith saved me from deep emotional despair and hopelessness, and the Intuitive Eating approach helped me build a healthy relationship with food, my body, and my mind. I learned to focus on and connect with the people "behind the bodies," and I want to encourage others to do the same. Educational Background: I pursued a Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences from Texas A&M University, a Master of Science in Dietetics and Dietetic Internship from Northern Illinois University, became a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) in 2018, and am licensed in the state of Maryland. Career: Shortly after I passed the RDN examination, I started a career at University of Maryland Extension as a Family and Consumer Sciences Healthy Living Educator/Agent. In other words, I am a community dietitian who educates residents of Southern Maryland about nutrition, food safety, and wellness related topics. Because of my position with the university, I am unable to provide one-on-one nutrition advice; however, I am happy to try to answer any questions you might have to the best of my ability and scope of practice.
