Carien Meyer

Carien Meyer is a South African-based dietitian and have been in the field of dietetics since 2001. She obtained her BSc (Hons) and MSc in Nutrition & Dietetics at the University of Cape Town, South Africa and have gained experience in hospital dietetics, community dietetics as well as private practice. She has supervised and lectured dietetic students at university level and served as a consultant dietitian at institutions for eating and substance use disorders. She is known for talks given to a variety of populations from various backgrounds-such as parents, teachers, health professionals, farm workers, community workers and people in recovery from substance use and teens). She currently works primarily in the field of disordered eating, type 2 diabetes and general eating dynamics and also supervises other dietitians in the field. Carien loves to help people reconnect with their bodies and re-establish a healthy relationship with food. When the way we relate to food and our bodies improve it is remarkable how many other aspects of our lives are positively impacted. Health does not have a certain ‘look’ and is different for everyone depending on their circumstances, challenges and season in life. Her approach is to support people of all sizes and all spheres of life to improve their health, and the foundations of Intuitive eating informs all her work.
